Last year, I was humbled and honoured to win the Rising Star Award at the 2014 Women in Media Awards hosted by B&T.
Stepping outside of a stable job to start my own media agency was the scariest thing I’ve ever done. I’ve done a lot of crazy things, but that was definitely the craziest, and winning the award was a beautiful reminder that the risks I’ve taken have all been worth it. 12 months down the track, I wouldn’t change a thing.
This year, I was honoured with a People’s Choice Award nomination. And although I didn’t win, I count the nomination alone as an awesome moment.
I’m just so grateful to be acknowledged for my hard work, and just like last year, so relieved that all of the risks I’ve taken throughout my career seem to have paid off.
It’s an important reminder to carry courage into the future, a reminder to follow through on the big decisions even though they might be frightening and a reminder that nothing worth having comes easy…
…which brings me back to risk.
My media career, for example, started with a bang in the form of a $35,000 loan I had no idea how I’d pay back. I borrowed an entire year’s salary to register for a business mentoring program designed to teach exponential thinking. There, I learned how to achieve extraordinary results.
I quit my job in the printing industry and started a career in media. I had no experience, but I learned from the masters and went on to win multiple awards, break several records and launch Ultimate Edge Communications.
But if I’d never taken those risks, I wouldn’t be where I am now.
The future of Ultimate Edge Communications looks bright indeed. We’ve won multiple awards, and every day we help clients reach unprecedented heights with their businesses.
And it all started with some risky moves and the desire to be more.
So if you’re after big rewards, always prepare to take big risks. After all, if success was easy… everyone would have it.
…Or, you could work with someone who’s taken the risks for you. Someone who’s been through it, learned how to succeed, and found other capable people to help produce great results for you.
Sound good to you? Why not take a free media audit and find out what years of risk and reward have taught us about success (and how we can create that for you)?
